Parents/Students
PARENTS
Making a Blended Education (Online, Offline, Classroom Attendance) successful for your child takes a lot of work for both the parent(s) and student. It is more than just the typical homework support, however, the one-to-one support you give your child each day will be rewarding. Success in the program is dependent on the quality of parent involvement. This is NOT an Independent Studies program. Parent(s) will be working alongside their children; instructing, coaching, scoring and keeping the work organized. I will surely be a part of the team; helping both the parent(s) and the students make this program a successful choice.
STUDENTS
I am so glad you are considering joining the MVOA family. Just a few "realities" that need to be addressed:
1) This is not a program that you just sit at a computer for 4-6 hours per day. There are assignments both online and offline that must be completed each day. When asked, most students feel that it is more work than what they did at a traditional school. However, the work that is done will be meaningful, remedial (if needed) and most definitely-enriching.
2) A parent needs to be available each day to support you in this program.
As stated earlier: Elementary MVOA is NOT an Independent Studies program.
3) Lab time and workshops are available for students who want to vary their learning environments and to receive tutoring. Schedule
